Real Life… Brian Muldowney
November 21, 2017
Hey guys! Believe it or not, I do stuff outside of vicarage, and even beyond my four years at seminary. Despite all the goings on, both here and at seminary, there are always a few things that I do to keep me refreshed and on fire for Jesus. And hey, they give me a bit of a crazy personality as well! Specific Minister Program

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! My name is Jeff Sutherlin and I am very blessed to be the 13th vicar at Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church.  However, I am not your "typical" vicar.  I originally began attending our wonderful church in 1987, thirty years ago.  I have seen Jesus work within our church for a long time. Our church family is very important to me.  I have seen amazing changes over the years and I am proud of the history of our church. Continue reading
Veterans Day 2017
November 7, 2017
I praise God every day that I live in a nation protected by soldiers, both men and women, who wake up every morning with just one goal in mind: to fight for freedom. Because of what they do, the United States of America remains free. Soldiers spend many days, weeks, months, and even years away from their loved ones to meet this goal. The love they have is unfailing, and it is displayed by their bravery and dedication. Our Heavenly Father is the author of UNFAILING LOVE --- STEADFAST LOVE. Continue reading
Trick or Treat?

It’s that time again. Time for my kids to dress up. Benjamin is going to be a pirate. Penelope will be dressed like Mal and Francesca will look like Evie, both from the Disney movie Descendants. Continue reading
“It’s Still all about Jesus”
October 25, 2017
It’s still all about Jesus. It always has been...and it always will be. I love my Lutheran heritage. I am a third generation Lutheran pastor. I love the fact that my grandfather preached in German in the Lutheran heartland of Milwaukee, WI. I have gloried in many a good Lutheran potluck. I revel in the compelling hymns and liturgies of our faith that point us to the fact we have been saved by grace through faith. I am proud to be a Lutheran on this 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Continue reading
The Good Place

Mark Twain, one of America’s best-loved authors, wrote The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn 133 years ago. This marvelously entertaining book has been justly criticized for its incorporation of racist terms, but I’d like to add another criticism here—for its promulgation of errant views about heaven. Perhaps even more so today, mistaken beliefs about heaven persist. Only Biblical truth can correct that! Continue reading
What it Means to be “a Man After God’s Own Heart”?
October 3, 2017
What an incredible thing to have said about you – “a man after God’s own heart”! Yet, that is exactly what God said about David when he was chosen to replace Saul as King over Israel. As a leader of the IronMen ministry at Christ’s Greenfield, I recently read this verse and sought to learn what it would mean to be such a man. To understand why David was referred to as “a man after God’s own heart”, we need to see what characteristics he had to qualify for such an exalted description. Continue reading

Now that the “scourge of summer” is starting to fade away, we're looking forward to being able to get out and do some walking around our neighborhood. When the weather is nice we like to do this several times a week.  We love to walk as a family. It's a time for us to experience peace and quiet, and have some quality conversations. Continue reading

Today, I’m on my way to Wittenberg, Germany! It’s the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther’s posting of the 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg church. This act propelled what is historically known as “The Protestant Reformation.” It is a foundational moment in our heritage – specifically as Lutherans, more generally as Christians, and even more broadly as citizens in the Western World! (I promise to send pictures!) Continue reading
