Lutheranism
September 19, 2017
Today, I’m on my way to Wittenberg, Germany! It’s the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther’s posting of the 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg church. This act propelled what is historically known as “The Protestant Reformation.” It is a foundational moment in our heritage – specifically as Lutherans, more generally as Christians, and even more broadly as citizens in the Western World! (I promise to send pictures!) Continue reading
Us Versus Them
September 12, 2017
As I reflected, yesterday, September 11th, a day of national sorrow, this verse stuck out in my mind. God has created all of us to be one people, one nation, one body. We are called to serve Him by serving one another despite our own intentions, wants, or needs. Ultimately, Jesus calls out to us, redeems us, and then sends us to do the same to others: to show love and care to all we meet through sharing and living the Gospel. Continue reading
All Things New!
September 6, 2017
There is no such thing as neutral. There is only progression or regression. No movement or no growth inevitably leads to regression. This principle is true individually and communally. Are you progressing on your journey with Jesus? Is your prayer life intensifying? Is your time in the Word increasing? Is your eagerness to serve and lead growing? If not, ask Jesus boldly for help for you to DISCOVER YOUR NEXT!  Jesus loves to answer this prayer! Continue reading
Real Life : Tim Ahlman
August 29, 2017
I am a normal guy. No, seriously, I am. I have a real life outside of being a pastor. This real life is actually what allows me to serve, lead and love as one of your pastors at CGLCS. I truly lead out of the overflow of a real life that is quite full.  It is a privilege to be “Pastor Tim.” It is also a privilege to simply be known by many as “Tim.” Continue reading
Sheep, goats, Honduras and East Africa
August 23, 2017
I reflect on Matthew 25 a lot. It’s a prophetic look ahead to the end of time and the beginning of eternity for us all. I like it because it gives perspective on what matters most in the world. With all the hate, division, anger and selfishness that fill our world through Facebook feeds, in 140 characters or less on Twitter, and on our news screens, I want to invite you as a Christian to have a different response. Our legacy to the community is to live filled up by God’s grace in order to fill up our neighbor’s lives in love. Continue reading
When Faith and Depression Collide
August 15, 2017
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” You may be surprised to hear that these words were spoken in great anguish by King David in Psalm 22! He continues in despair with “Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, and by night I find no rest.” Continue reading
‘Twas the Night Before School
August 8, 2017
I blinked and summer was over. Today, my oldest son walks out the door a high school freshman and on Wednesday the other two sons begin their 7th and 4th grade years at Christ’s Greenfield. I had great intentions for the summer and maybe you did too. Maybe we didn’t do everything on the “list”, but I do have a lot of sweet memories. Continue reading
Transform Your Body
August 2, 2017
God cares about your physical health. No, seriously - God cares more than you can possibly imagine about your physical health. Day by day transform your body. We all know the path toward taking care of our body: eat less, eat right, drink more water, work out in some way daily, limit stress, and get enough sleep. It is not rocket science. Yet, what may be overlooked by many Christians is our motivation for staying in shape. Continue reading
Real Life… DCE Annie Tiberg
July 25, 2017
I am going to take my own spin on our REAL LIFE series. To me REAL LIFE is equal to “a day in the life” of someone, which gives a feel for who they are and what they like. Many of you know me and the variety of ministries I lead and co-lead here at CGLCS. My days get filled with things I love and the REAL LIFE that goes with it. I wanted to give you a little snapshot into my REAL LIFE of serving Jesus and His people… Continue reading
Out of the Desert
July 18, 2017
Next Monday, my family and I will hop in the car to begin our journey out of the desert back to Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.  We will pack our gear, pile in, and trust God to provide and protect as we drive.  I feel like the Israelites we’ve been talking about on Sundays over the past several weeks as they walked with God in the desert! Continue reading
