WE CARE MINISTRY… A Story of Caring
July 3, 2017
We Care Ministry is a ministry of love and concern that was born almost 14 years ago at Christ’s Greenfield Lutheran Church and School. Out of love that our Lord has shown to us, We Care Ministry cherishes our times of caring for others because We Care. Continue reading
Make Disciples Who Make Disciples?
June 27, 2017
Discipleship. It is somewhat of a trendy buzzword in the Christian church today. The wider Christian church in America seems to ebb and flow between a heavy focus on “evangelism” and “discipleship.” It’s an interesting pendulum swing to observe. Today is the day of discipleship in the American church. My bookshelf is thick with discipleship books.   Continue reading

Jesus has been on the move, friends! What a joy it was to be on our campus this week! Just a few days ago, nearly 650 children, teenagers and adults descended upon the Christ’s Greenfield campus for our annual Vacation Bible School. It was a marvelous week of learning all about how our amazing Maker created us, loves us, is for us, will never leave us, died and rose for us. What a friend we have in Jesus! Continue reading
His Name
June 13, 2017
His Name is the most influential name in all of history, but you hardly ever hear it mentioned in a public school. It’s not because using His Name would encourage unruly behavior in schoolchildren. No-- just the opposite-- His Name is often associated with the behavior of model citizens. But public schools prohibit His teachings, and so His Name is seldom heard in those classrooms. Continue reading

All right, Vicar Matt … ya got me! I guess I’m “it”! REAL LIFE? That reminds me of that verse in 1 Timothy 6:19 where Paul refers to “the life that is truly life” – the one kept in heaven for us, and will be revealed when Christ returns (Col. 3:1-4). Now, that’s livin’! Continue reading
That Bird

Just a few weeks ago, my family and I joined our journey group to serve four families through the ministry of Family Promise (http://familypromiseaz.org/). Over a BBQ meal, we heard stories of painful transitions, broken relationships, and unsuccessful job searches. It was heartbreaking. Continue reading
The Centennial Bell
May 23, 2017
BY: Pastor Tim Ahlman, George Frauhiger, Pastor Kevin Wyssmann, and Duane Hustrulid The courtyard bell at CGLCS is 100 years old! I just found this out in the below article given to me by long-time member, George Frauhiger. The bell will continue to be a staple in our courtyard for years to come! What a joy to ring it 7 times each Sunday, signifying CGLCS as a place of rest. Continue reading
What a Gift!… But We Have to Open It!
May 16, 2017
A story for you… from the annals of church history. St. John Chrysostom was born in 347 in Antioch (modern day Turkey). A brilliant law student from a Christian family, John didn’t decide to be a Christian until he was 20. What is remarkable is that John, brilliant and educated as he was, did not get baptized right away. Rather, he entered into the church’s standard pre-baptism protocol, which required three years of preparation through instruction (catechism). At 23, John was finally baptized into the Christian faith… and ultimately earned the nickname “Golden Throat” as the head pastor in the imperial city of Constantinople. Continue reading

Vicar Jake tagged Pastor Tim last time in his REAL LIFE blog post. However, I jumped in the way and took that tag! There are just a handful of months left before my family and I head back to the seminary in St. Louis in July. Thank you for all the opportunities to live life with you! Continue reading
Thank a teacher today!

In 1976, I was in third grade at St. Peter Immanuel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I started the year as a new student with my little brother, Travis, who was enrolled in Kindergarten. I tried to be brave for Travis, but I was scared to go to a new school filled with teachers and children that I did not know. Continue reading
